Increase your policy’s benefits with riders

Accelerated Death Benefit Rider


This rider is included in your policy at no charge. It gives you access to a portion of your policy’s death benefit, if you are diagnosed with a terminal illness resulting in 12 months or less to live.

Accidental Death Benefit Rider

*Available at additional cost

Your policy’s beneficiary will receive an increased death benefit with this rider, if you die due to an accident. Cost varies by age and benefit amount.

Child Rider

*Available at additional cost

For as little as $60 per year, add a child rider that covers your children under age 18. Options range from $10,000 to $25,000 in coverage per child. Ask your Quotacy agent for details.

Premium Waiver for Disability

*Available at additional cost

SBLI will waive premium payments during a period of total disability lasting six consecutive months or more. The waived payments don’t have to be paid back. This rider is not available on all policies and cost varies by age.

The Fine Print

Guidelines & Exclusions

Accelerated Underwriting
  • If you are age 60 or younger and applying for $500,000 in coverage or less, you are eligible for SBLI’s accelerated underwriting program and you won’t need a medical exam.
  • A phone interview is required.
  • Underwriting will still include evaluation of medical records and motor vehicle records.
  • Not available in New York or Montana.
Term Conversion
  • You may convert to a permanent policy at any time within the term or by age 70—whichever is earlier.
Accidental Death Benefit Rider
  • This rider will pay your beneficiaries up to 2x the death benefit amount—up to a maximum of $250,000—if you die before age 70 and within 180 days of the accident.
Accelerated Death Benefit Rider
  • You can accelerate up to 50% of the death benefit—not to exceed $250,000.
  • When the death benefit payout is accelerated, there is a processing fee of $150.
Child Rider
  • Newborn child covered when 15 days old.
  • Rider can be converted to a new policy up to five times the rider face amount.
  • Parent (or child) can convert rider to a permanent policy when child turns 25 or parent turns 65—whichever is earlier.
Premium Waiver for Disability Rider
  • Rider expires at age 65.
  • Policies with face amount of $3,000,000 or less are eligible for this rider.
